Background
The department of biology offers programs covering all areas
of Biological study. Our undergraduate and postgraduate (master
and PhD) courses are designed to produce knowledgeable and
practiced graduates who can appropriately apply their knowledge
to their living. Our students are trained to become able
to perceive, think and analyze systematically. They are conscious
of utilizing sciences and technology with sense of responsibility.
Potential of the department in offering all the courses are promised
by our staff who are specialized in many areas, such as botany,
zoology, genetics, plant and animal physiology, systematics and
anatomy, cell biology, molecular biology, biotechnology and freshwater
ecology. We also have well-equipped classrooms and laboratories,
biological museum, botanical garden and greenhouse.
Academic Programs
Our department is participating in 3 programs
1. Bachelor of Science, B.Sc. (Biology)
Students usually spend four years to complete bachelor degree.
Approximately 50 students are expected per year by quota and
entrance examination, also by the development and promotion
of science and technology talent (DPST) project. Students need
to complete approximately 130 units of courses in general biology,
botany, zoology, genetics and elective courses according to
their interest. 177 students are currently registered in our
undergraduate program.
2. Master of Science, M.Sc. (Biology)
Students usually spend two years to complete master degree.
Admission is opened yearly. Students are required to enrolled
in 21 units of courses and 15 units of thesis. 54 students
are currently registered.
3. Doctor of Philosophy, Ph.D. (Biology)
Students usually spend three years to complete Ph.D. degree.
Admission is opened yearly. Students are required to enrolled
in either 12 units of courses plus 36 units of thesis or
48 units of thesis. 19 students are currently registered.
Faculty members
The department has a total of 40 faculty members specialized
in differentareas, for example, botany, zoology, genetics,
molecular biology and biotechnology
